Dedicated to traditional Goju Ryu Karate

Using the Internet to further your understanding of Goju Ryu karate is to be encouraged.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of Internet karate videos are often not relevant to EGKA members, of poor quality, or just plain … wrong!

Sensei Ernie Molyneux and Roy Flatt recognised the need for a definitive source of video based instruction that does accurately reflect the karate taught in all EGKA dojos in England or, for that matter, many IOGKF dojo around the World.

The Goju Ryu Academy was formed in 2009 to fulfill that role. We trust you will come to value it.

Sensie Ernie Molyneux, (IOGKF 7th Dan)

Ernie Molyneux (I0GKF 7th Dan) is the Chief Instructor of the EGKA. As well as being a superb technician and an inspirational karate instructor, Sensei Ernie is a former kumite world champion and has been placed in the top three of many international tournaments in his youth.

Apart from teaching Goju Ryu karate in the UK, Sensei Ernie regularly returns to Okinawa, Japan to fulfil his duties as one of the two Europeans to sit on the Executive Committee of the IOGKF.

Sensei Ernie is often invited to lead international Goju Ryu events and instruct special forces teams.

Sensie Roy Flatt, (IOGKF 7th Dan)

IOGKF Shihan Instructor, England

Roy Flatt (I0GKF 7th Dan) holds Shihan status and he has also represented his country many times at international level with a string of kumite successes to his name.

Sensei Roy runs two EGKA dojos in Liverpool and a successful security business. Through years of experience working the doors of the Liverpool night scene, there are few karate instructors more qualified to teach effective street self defence.

Now sought after for his threat management consultancy skills, Sensei Roy spends his time teaching clients how to defuse potential violence in the workplace, as well as how to deal it.
